About the Directory
Andrea Butje’s International Directory of Essential Oil Distillers features resources for individuals and businesses to buy essential oils from distillers (and a few excellent distributors) around the world. The directory is updated regularly, easy to use, and filled with personal stories, photographs, and importing information. Click here for a free tour.
The directory currently has contact information for distillers from a wide variety of countries. Each distiller has his or her own page. On the page are pictures, lists of the oils they produce, and stories about the distiller and their business.
The directory is a database that allows you to sort information to find the exact oil you are looking for, and all the distillers that sell that oil. The directory also offers information about importing oils. I have been importing essential oils for many years. I have personally worked with most of the distillers and distributors listed in the directory.
My intention in writing this directory has evolved over many years of observing Aromatherapists, Aromatherapy Retailers and Massage Therapists trying to find sources for high quality essential oils directly from distillers. This directory provides subscribers with a direct and easy way to buy high quality oils.
The directory is of no cost to the distillers and suppliers listed. I am supporting them as they are dedicating their lives to this passionate and labor-intensive work of growing, harvesting, distilling and selling high quality essential oils for medicinal use. I charge $250.00 for a one-year subscription to the directory to help support the ongoing work of this project.
When I add a new distiller they fill out a questionnaire so I can be sure they are right for the directory. I also have some of their oils tested with GC/MS. This assures me that all the distillers and their oils are high quality.
The directory is an amazing resource and I hope it offers you a doorway into the wonderful world of buying oils directly from distillers.
"Every plant essence has its origin in the land and her people. In order for us to enjoy any ethereal aromatic gem there must first be an environment in which it can grow, people who carefully tend and harvest it and the folks who distill or extract it. It is a remarkable chain of events that leads to even the simplest of essential oils. When the intricacies of this process begin to penetrate into our understanding, it is possible that we will get a heightened sense of appreciation for the essences that we use." — Christopher McMahon
